Walk Into the Light by The Insomnia Fairy

At the heart of light
lies the great beast of darkness,
like soldiers on watch,
they take turns,
who sleeps more we will never know,
but when one sleeps,
the other will keep wishing
it wasn’t alone;
when night awakes,
light yawns and goes to sleep.
Light keeps close its dreams,
and night its reveries,
only light knows that night
is deep within it,
like concentric tree-rings,
the map for those who walk into light,
dimly aware that they were woken
by a sentinel of darkness.
